East Rochester Republican Committee Under New Leadership

East Rochester, NY – March 11, 2009. The East Rochester Republican Committee is now under new leadership. The committee elected new officers last Wednesday, including a new Town Leader, who plans to coordinate the activities of the committee as it selects candidates and work with the residents of East Rochester to make sure their voices are heard at the Village Hall.

Mike Greer, a long-time East Rochester resident and Town Leader from 1995-2000, was again elected Town Leader in a unanimous vote at the Republican Committee’s monthly meeting last Wednesday. “I plan to continue the long tradition of bringing forward candidates that have always been selfless public servants for the people of East Rochester,” Greer said. As Town Leader, he will be responsible for overseeing the political activities of the Republican Committee, and will report directly to Bill Reilich, Chair of the Monroe County GOP. Mr. Greer succeeds Mike Flanigan, who stepped down from the town leader position in order to devote more time to his responsibilities as Village Trustee.

In addition to Town Leader, the committee elected officers for three other positions. Gayle Shalvoy was elected secretary, and Mike Flanigan, an East Rochester Village Trustee and the former Town Leader, was elected Treasurer. Matt Fox, who chairs the Transitional Studies Department at Monroe Community College and helps to coordinate the college’s sustainability initiatives, was elected to the newly-created position of Communications Coordinator.
